Our Valentine's Day Celebrations
We had a lot of fun celebrating Valentine's Day this year. First is a picture of Cory, Brooke and Dani at work in the "Cardshop." We hope everyone enjoyed their homemade with LOTS of love cards! Brooke and Dani got it all set up this year and Mom did a lot of printing out of her digital scrapbook papers and elements to use.
We started our celebration on Sunday the 11th making Valentine cookies and taking them around to our neighbor friends.
Pop got tired of spreading the frosting on the little cookies so the last few he just put a big blob of icing on. It was very funny!
Then the next day on Monday we had our official dinner and party. We had halibut with potatoes, vegetables, salad, red jello, and strawberry daquari (minus the rum!) to drink. Now that all you older kids are gone, we can use our china again and we now also have our nice set of silver to use. I guess you older ones got to use the china when it was just you so it is all fair right?
After dinner we had some stories and played a few games while Pop set up the "string thing" We decided that it what it is officially called now, and also decided that either the Valentine monster or cupid leaves the treats on the string. Dani thought it was Pop and I since some of the years the treats said to Dani from Mom and Pop, but we told her that must have been a trick. She didn't believe us.
After the activity we used our chocolate fountain for refreshments. It worked great and we thought it was tasty-a lot of work though, but fun.
On Valentine's Day Marcus and Cory had their Bone Voce dinner, but the rest of us had another nice dinner of spam, rice, and cottage cheese with pears! It was very tasty and we set the table fancy again, then afterwards played turnovers and bingo with Brooke and Dani. It was really weird too because on the first game, Dani went first and on her first turn she got 3 matches right off the bat! Brooke I think only ended the game with one match. So the second game Brooke got to go first and she got 2 matches on her first turn. She ended up winning that game. So it really is lucky to be the first one.
We finally got to open our Valentine's on Thursday the 15th. Thank you everyone for your fun valentine's that you sent.
Other February Activities
I can't believe that February is more than half over! We have had a lot going on so far and it has been a fun month. We enjoyed coming up to Provo on the 3rd for Abby's birthday to celebrate and watch TJ play soccer. Thanks to Derek and Jaclyn, and TJ nad Shauna for hosting the celebrations. it was goo to see the Stevens also and celebrate Amy's birthday. Kait as usual was mesmerized by her Grandpa's mustache.
On Friday the 2nd, Pop and I went to the Manti temple and did some sealing for a ward assignment. It has been many years since I have done sealings and it was a wonderful experience. The sealer shared many thoughts with us and it was great. Then the next week was Pop's birthday and to celebrated he took the day off, we went to Provo to do a little shopping, then hurried back home to have dinner with the grandparents Burnham and Finlinson. Marcus helped decorate and put candles on Pop's cake and he was able to blow them out with one little puff.
On Friday the 9th, Brooke had a sleepover with Angela Burton, and Alexa Finlinson. They had such a fun time and slept up in the loft. Then on Sat Cory had a fun party our here. Kids actually came! They really had a lot of fun and laughs.
We enjoyed going to the Bone Voce Valentine dinner again this year. Grandma and Grandpa Burnham and Finlinson and Doris went with us and we really enjoyed the evening and having Marcus and Cory wait on us. The music was great-good to hear Bone Voce sounding more like they should.
Brooke and Dani finished up their basketball season this last week with a bang. They both had their highest scoring games for their last game. We didn't really keep track, but we think Brooke made around 7 baskets and Dani at least 10 or more. It was a lot of fun to watch them play this year. One of their games they played on side by side courts and it was funny to observe that when they line the girls up man to man on who they guard from shortest to tallest, that Brooke was the tallest girl on the court and Dani was the shortest!
