May Happenings

Here is a recap of a few of the things that went on in May. What a busy month it always is, and especially with a senior!

Our trip to St. George for the high school soccer championship games.

Jamie, Dani and Brooke asleep in the back seat on the way down. Don't they look cozy? If they knew how hot is was going to be down their they would have gotten rid of those blankets fast!
Delta played in the semi final game on Fri the 12th against Logan. It wasn't their best game and they lost, but Marcus and Cory played well and we were so proud of them and the team for the awesome season they had. It was sooooo hot during the game, I think around 105 degrees. Not a good idea to have soccer finals in St. George in May!
After the game Marcus and Cory went to stay with the team, and the rest of us went to an RV park to camp in our tent. We were able to set up our tent on a nice grassy place right by the swimming pool and main building and had a wonderful time. Kait loves to have someone lead her around while she walks, and Dani was very happy to be the one.
The next day at the championship game Marcus was honored for Academic Allstate along with 2 others on his team (Jordan Christensen and Colton Griffiths). Only 10 seniors in 3A soccer receive the award and so it is quite an honor. Marcus of course has a 4.0. The DHS principle gave out the awards this year.
After the awards we went back to our camp and swam a bit more before packing up and heading home. We went to eat first and had a very nice time with everyone. It was great to have TJ, Shauna, Kait, Abby come to the game and support the boys. Amy drove up from Vegas to visit Shauna and family for a few hours.

Brooke and Dani finished up their soccer spring seasons and did well. Brooke played some 4x4 soccer and Dani played 8x8.

The Sunday after the St. George soccer trip was Mother's day. Gichin didn't go to the games, but came down earlier on Sat and washed my windows for a mother's day gift. What a nice surprise to come home to! He also had a nice smelling candle going up in Abby's room that made the whole house smell so good. We had a nice Mother's day with them and Jamie here to celebrate. We ate a Wendy's house as is the tradition. She had Hawaiian haystacks and they were yummy.

Grandpa had the funniest story he told about getting Grandma's Mother's day gift and we were all in hysterics especially Grandma!
Dani had colonial days at school and dressed up like a pioneer. I had to hem Jamie's skirt from the trek and take in the waist a bit and it worked great. We had to have a picture with Sammy of course.
Grandpa went on the Father's and Son's outing this year. I can't believe he would do that at 90 years!
Here are some pictures of pretty pink iris' blooming in front of the wild roses. It is so colorful and pretty I just had to take a picture. The flowers are looking so good this year.
Brooke and Dani helped me plant some of the garden. They did a good job because everything came up quite well.
Marcus made this shelf in shop this year. We went to the open house at the tech where he was able to show off his stuff.

Marcus received several awards at the senior awards night. He is one of 6 valedictorians and received a nice gift for that. We are very proud of Marcus and all his high school accomplishments.
Sunday May 20th Marcus graduated from seminary. Pop and I are just sick about him graduating and leaving home. I can't really believe he is old enough. Here is a picture of him and his best friend Chance Young at seminary graduation. They have been such good friends since Middle School. Chance will be going on a mission at the end of the summer.
This is a picture of Marcus and all the fun girls he has been friends with. Is he enjoying this or what?
The Delta South Elementary school has a fun day every year just a couple of days before school is out. They have sack lunches and the whole family can come and eat with the students. Here we are eating our sack lunch with the Petersen's. Dani, Miranda and Hayley are having a fun time being silly after we ate.

Marcus Graduation from DHS!

The day we have been dreading finally arrived. Isn't this such a sad picture of Marcus and Cory? How could Marcus just up and leave Cory and not be in high school with him anymore? Well maybe it is just the parents, because Marcus and Cory look quite happy!

After graduation they had a grad night party and since Marcus is in the class presidency I got to help with it. I was on the decorating committee. The theme was 007 with a James Bond theme and turned out so good. Here is Marcus posing with friends in their hats that everyone got.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fun memorial day weekend with TJ, Shauna, Kait, Jamie, Abby and Gichin, and Tyler down to celebrate. We had a lot of fun flying kites, eating popsicles, building tree houses and just hanging out. Of course Grandma and Grandpa Burnham and Wendy were in on the parties. We celebrated Marcus' graduation, and Shauna and Gichin's birthdays with a barbeque on Sat night and a gifts/cards on Sunday.

Then on Monday we all enjoyed the memorial day breakfast and afterwards went to the cemetery for the program and to decorate the graves and here the stories of our ancestors.
After the program we went out to Grandma and Grandpa Fin's for a picnic and afternoon of fun. The kids borrowed some horses from Jon and were able to get in quite a bit of horseback riding. I even got in on the fun with Dani leading the horse (just a little scary)
Kait loved riding and petting the horses. Only one time did she get a little nervous and cry which made the horse a little nervous, which in turn made Shauna and I a little nervous!
The kids always like to go the pond and play. Cory and Kyle got the raft back into shape enough for it to float and hold up all these cousins. Kait even got on the raft for a little bit with Marcus' help.
