Well I couldn't prevent it from coming. The first day of school came and I could do nothing about it! Dani was excited to wear her new clothes, Brooke was nervous as heck (which made it really hard for me to send her) and Cory was ready to begin a great year and excited to be driving himself to school. I was OK till I started driving back home and then just lost it. It was pretty bad to send Brooke to 7th grade, new teachers every hour, whether you have friends in your classes, if your friends are still your friends or will even talk to you, if your hair looks ok, who you will eat lunch with, etc etc. Terrible that a person has to deal with middle school! She survived just great though and reported that she had a friend in every class. Cory I am sure will have a great year and came home full of enthusiasm, and Dani thinks Mrs. Christensen is really nice and is sitting by Miranda Petersen so all is good. Finally 3:45 came and they were getting off the bus!! Welcome home girls!!! Cory got home about 15 minutes later since he didn't have football practice till 6:00. There was a game on Friday so they have practice at night the day before a game. Delta lost this first game however (21-14) against Union at Union. Cory was able to get in for a few plays and also played on the kick off and kick return team.
Thursday morning after the kids got off to school, Grandpa called very worried about Grandma. She has not been feeling well for some time now and just was in pretty bad shape this particular morning. So we took her to the doctor who right away recognized that her problem was atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) and admitted her to the hospital. It was hard to see her so weak and having a hard time breathing and was a little scary for us. She was retaining a lot of water because of her weakened heart and so worked to get rid of the excess water, put her on medication to try to get her heartbeat steady, and some blood thinner to keep her from having a stroke. She was able to come home on Saturday and is feeling much better. We still don't know what the long term prognosis is, but hopefully she will be back to her normal activities soon. If you look carefully on the right, there are some pink naked ladies in the vase on the counter! Grandma really likes them and we thought they would brighten up her room.
